John Foust left Sullivan County in 1843 and removed with his family to Hamilton Co., TN, making the journey down the river in flatboats. Deed records of this county show that on June 22, 1843 John Foust bought of Samuel Jackson 562 acres of land on Mountain Creek, including the place where the said Jackson now lives, beginning on a spur of Walden's Ridge, corner of Elisha Rogers, etc.

John FOUST Jr. and Matilda HAWLEY were married on 23 September 1822 in Sullivan Co., TN. They had 12 children. Matilda HAWLEY, daughter of Francis Marion HAWLEY and Sarah HUDSON, was born on 27 April 1801. She died on 25 June 1879 at the age of 78 in Red Bank, Hamilton Co., TN.
