The Foust family bible has 1 Oct 1825 as a death date which is probably not correct. Shortly after the close of the Revolution, John Foust began making preparations to move to the new Frontier by disposing of his real estate in Orange Co., NC. to Elisha Bennett and his uncle, George Foust, as revealed in Orange Co., NC deed records. As early as 1790 he began accumulating acreage in Sullivan Co., TN. He received Grant #750 from Samuel Ash, Governor of the State of NC for 80 acres, dated 17 Nov 1797, recorded in Vol. 3, page 222, Sullivan Co., TN. This tract of land on Reedy Creek became his home place and just prior to his death he deeded same to his son, Jacob Foust, Vol. 10, page 447, Sullivan Co., Deed Records.
