Mrs. Eva Ona Graves, a resident of Cass county most of her life, died at Des Moines March 9, following a long illness. She was 87. Mrs. Graves was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elma Abel Burton, born 23 Sept 1882, at Murray. She attended school and grew to young womanhood in the Murray community. June 28, 1905, she was married to J. Howard Graves at Nebraska City. They became the parents of five children. The family moved to Plattsmouth in 1925 . Mr. Graves preceded her in death Oct 30, 1965. Most of the four years since her husband's death, she lived with her daughter in West Des Moines. Mrs. Graves was a member of the Christian Church in Plattsmouth. She taught a Sunday School class for many years and was active in women's work. Earlier in her life, she was employed at Norfolk Canning Factory. Survivors include five children, Clyde Graves of Burbank, Calif., Carl Graves of Inglewood, Calif., Joe Graves of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Mrs. Lester (Ona) Thinghan of West Des Moines, IA.,and Mrs Paul (Maxine) Keil of Plattsmouth; a brother, James V. Burton of Harvard; a sister Fannie Cook, of Norfolk; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Service were held March 10, at Caldwell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Paul L. Whifield, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Twyla Hodge. Pallbearers were Glenn Diggs, Herbert Freeburg, Jess Hodge, Reuel Sack, George Winscot and Rex Young. Flower ladies were Mrs. Lua Keller and Mrs. Juanita Diggs.
