39. Gershom HUNT¹⁴ was born about 1723 in Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., NJ.¹⁵ He died in 1807 in Rowan Co., NC.¹⁶ Presumably buried in the Hunt Family Cemetery on North Potts Creek, off Tyro Road. On 10 Oct 1985 there were no stones left with identifiable marks and only four stone fragments left. At one time there were at least 50 graves and about half had markers. Earlier compilation of data on headstones showed stones for his son David Hunt and the latter's family. He signed a will on 28 April 1807 in Rowan Co., NC.¹⁴ Divided his property between his wife Elizabeth and sons Abraham, Elijah (110 acres next to David Hunt--who is not mentioned as a legatee but is shown to have received 100 acres in the division of the property), and leaves five shillings each ot his daughters Charity Hunt, Hannah Lynn, Jean Beard, Elizabeth Hussey, Susanna Hunt, and Mary Clark. Executors were his sons Abraham and Elijah, witnessed by (neighbors) Robert Wilson and WIlliam Wiseman. Survey and distribution was made by WIlliam Moore 8 Jan 1812. Will proven for name at place on date. No documentation has been found until 20 Nov 1760 when deed records show Henry McCulloch selling (for 24 pounds, 8 shillings and six pence, with annual rental of 3 shillings sterling or 4 shillings proclamation money) to "the planter Gresham Hunt of Rowan Co., NC", 359 acres in Tract 9 beginning at Potts Creek, around which site Gershom appears to have lived the rest of his life. Gershom Hunt was a foreman of a grand jury in Rowan Co. 3 Apr 1769 and was on a grand jury 2 Aug 1774. On 13 Aug 1773 he was witness to the sale by Peter Madrick

Gershom HUNT and Eunice FITZRANDOLPH¹⁴ were married on 4 September 1751 in NJ.¹⁵ Moved to the Atkins River area in NC in June of 1752. Eunice FITZRANDOLPH was born in 1730.¹⁵ She died on 28 March 1759 in NC.¹⁵

Gershom HUNT and Eunice FITZRANDOLPH had the following children:

Gershom HUNT and Elizabeth (?) had the following children:

78	iii.	Abraham HUNT17 died in 1825 in Rowan Co., NC.17 Abraham died unmarried and intestate in 1825 and the 1829-29 distribution of his estate to the families of his siblings provides the best record found of families of his brothers David and Elijah and other marriages of his sisters.
