He signed a will on 23 January 1814 in Scott Co., KY. Named wife, Leonna; children, Sarah Winscott, John Smith, Thomas Smith,....Smith, Moses Smith, Priscilla Cobb,... Smith, Lucy Roberts, Anna Smith,...Ben Smith. He died in December 1814 at the age of 65 in Long Lick, Scott Co., KY. Will proven for name at place on date. Will Book B, page 133. On December the 6th, 1814 the appraisal of the Estate was recorded. Exactly where the Joseph and his family first settled in Kentucky is unknown. They were in Woodford County, Ky by 1791 and on the Ohio River in Present Day Boone County in 1794. They were charter members of the "Bullittsburg Baptist Church". In 1795 Joseph and family joined the "Great Crossing Baptist Church" near Georgetown, Scott County Kentucky. They attended this chuch until 1801, at which time they asked for letters of Dissmission. By 1796 they had settled in Scott County. In 1804, May 29th Joseph purchased 1188 acres on Long Lick Fork of Eagle Creek for $400. The "Long Lick Baptist Church" and the graveyard were located on his land. Joseph was an extensive land Owner. Joseph was appointed Deacon on November 7, 1795. In the year 1813, (the year before Joseph died ) they had land on Locust Fork of Lecompts Run. He sold some land to Thomas Cobb,(his son-in-law). May 1rst he sold 301 acxres to his son Lewis for $70.00, on Locust Fork of Lecompts Run. On February 7, he sold land in Scott County to his son-in-law Isaac Winscott. 217. Leannah W. (?) was born about 1750. She died after 1814 at the age of 64. Children were:
