Thirteen children were born to them, eleven of whom grew to maturity. Nine of their thirteen children were born in North Carolina; the last four in Missouri, where they migrated in 1840. A brother of Dilly (as she was known), Alexander Clapp and his wife Milly Robertson left North Carolina about the same time and settled near Milburn in Western Kentucky. David and Delila first lived near Finley River north of the mill at Ozark, Missouri in what was then Greene County. They soon acquired lands east of Ozark and north of Highlandville, Missouri. In 1852 David R. Clapp and Alexander Clapp bought the mill on Big Beaver Creek in Taney Co., Missouri that was known for many years as the "Old Clapp Mill," later known as Kissee Mills. It is designated such in the "Official Records of the War of Rebellion." They also operated mills at Riverdale and Linden. (Elmo Clapp book, page 13). Two of David and Dilly's children changed their names from Clapp to Page in the 1870's. For more information see Volume 7, 1992 of the Clapp Family Association Newsletter.
