We learn, with sentiments of regret, of the death of Mr. Eli Clapp, Sr., for many years a a resident of our county. The sad event occurred last Saturday, at his residence about seven miles from town. He has been a sufferer for years, and no doubt longed for the change.

Illumined by hey footsteps, will lead us to God;’
An through this sad world, whatever our fate,
We’ll follow the steps to the beautiful gale.”

Miss Clapp was born Jan 28, 1856, in Columbus the daughter of Eli Clapp. She is survived by one sister, Miss Jennie Clapp, three nieces, the Misses Welch and Mrs. Beulah Obenhaus, and one nephew, Leo Obenhaus, all of Columbus. Miss Clapp made her home with Misses Leona and Ninon Welch in Columbus for the past fourteen years. Burial was in Ijamas Cemetery near Oak Grove, Columbus Funeral Home having charge of funeral arrangements. Pallbearers were F. F. Hoegemeyer, R. R Hadden, R. W. Byars, L. L. Hastedt, E. G. Miller, E.
