737. Jacob C. CLAPP Jr. was born on 26 December 1815 in Guilford Co., NC.¹⁶⁴ He died in January 1870 at the age of 54 in Colorado Co., TX. Baptized 17 Mar 1816, Frieden's Lutheran Church, NC. He was a planter and slave holder before the Civil War. He migrated from Guilford Co., NC to TN about 1839 and by 1850 was living in Texas. In April 1861 he enlisted in Company A of the Fifth Texas Calvary, under famous Tom Green. He was the father of six sons, all of whom enlisted for Civil War service. Information on the six sons was obtained from "The Confederate Research Center", Hillsboro, Texas from their general index cards. This list is in the Clapp Family Assoc. Newsletter volume 8, 1993.

This couple had 6 sons; all of whom served in the Confederate Army (Civil War) from Texas. Winifred "Winney" COBB, daughter of Jacob COBB and Winifred BENEFIELD, was born in 1820 in Guilford Co., NC.¹⁶⁴ She died about 1867 at the age of 47 in TX.¹⁶⁴
