14. John Phillip CLAPP Sr. was born on 20 February 1731 in Oley Twp., Berks Co., PA. He signed a will on 8 September 1797 in Guilford Co., NC.23 A:058 - John Philip Clapp - Eldest son Valentine - 200 Acres on the Alamance where he lives. Son Adam 412 Acres on waters of Rock Fork (?0, ten shillings Sons John & Ludderwick - land on which each lives. Ch of dau Barbary Swing, dec'd, former wife of Mathias Swing - one Negro women named Jenny, five shillings each. Dau Christina, w/o Phillip Albright - Negro boy Franck, 10 sh Dau Molly, w/o Conrad Hagney - tract on which they live, 10 sh Dau Catherine, w/o Adam Brown - land where Holman Brown lives. Dau Eva, w/o Ephraim Burrow - Negro girl named Nancy. 10 sh wife Barbary - remaining lands, Negroes, stock, furniture, etc. Wits: Samuel Lindsay, John Job, Junr., John Cooper.

He died in February 1798 at the age of 67 in Guilford Co., NC. John had his estate probated in November 1798 in Guilford Co., NC.23 Will written in Guilford Co., NC, 8 Sep 1797. An amendment was added 29 Sep1798. The will was entered in 1798 and is recorded in Will Book A, 1798. See page 246 ACB book for will.

John Phillip CLAPP Sr. and Barbara (?) were married about 1751 in Berks Co., PA. Barbara (?) was born about 1732 in Oley Twp., Berks Co., PA. She died in Whitsett, Guilford Co., NC. Elmo Clapp has this Barbara as a daughter of John Ludwig, Sr.- Vance explains on P. 246 of his book why this cannot be correct.
